Hoi An holidays from Kazakhstan
Hoi An is a small town on the Thu Bon river and a former trading port. Its old town keeps merchant houses, temples, bridges and narrow lanes, and in the evening hundreds of lanterns light up the streets.
A Hoi An holiday is not a classic resort stay: cafés, walks, tailors, bicycles and the beach all belong to it. We help choose a hotel — in the old town, by the river or at An Bang — and check flights from Kazakhstan.
- Hoi An is a town in central Vietnam whose old town is a UNESCO site, and An Bang beach is four to five kilometres from the centre.
- The best months are usually February to April; September to November brings heavy rain and occasional flooding in the old town.
- Most travellers arrive via Da Nang airport (DAD), about 30 km and 40–50 minutes by transfer. The price depends on dates, hotel and meal plan.
Why people choose Hoi An
Hoi An is interesting for its atmosphere rather than the beach alone. In two or three days you can walk the centre, try the local food, have clothes made and take a trip to An Bang or the Cam Thanh coconut village.
The town is easy to handle because it is compact: most places of interest are within walking distance and the sea is ten to fifteen minutes away by bicycle. Hoi An also stays calmer than Da Nang or Nha Trang if you do not need nightlife.
The old town, An Bang and the surroundings
The old town means narrow streets, wooden houses, the Japanese Bridge and assembly halls. In the evening lanterns come on and boats with paper lanterns drift along the river. Entry to some monuments and the combined ticket are paid separately.
An Bang beach lies four to five kilometres from the centre: a sandy stretch with cafés and a gentle entry into the water. Further out are Cam Thanh with coconut groves and basket boats, craft villages and farms.
When to go to Hoi An: season and weather
February to April is usually dry and warm, a comfortable time for both the beach and the town. May and June turn hot, and showers become more likely towards the end of the day.
September to November is the rainy season. Rain can fall for several days and the river may rise, flooding part of the old town. In these months check the forecast and avoid hotels in the low riverside area.
Flights from Kazakhstan and the transfer from Da Nang
The nearest airport is DAD in Da Nang. Flights from Almaty and Astana involve a connection and direct services depend on the seasonal schedule; sometimes it is easier to fly to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City and add a domestic leg.
Da Nang airport is about 30 km from Hoi An, a drive of 40–50 minutes. A transfer can be added to the package or booked in advance, which is simpler than finding a taxi late at night.
Hotels and meal plans: old town, river or beach
A hotel in the old town is convenient for walks and dinners, though it may be noisy. The riverside is quieter, An Bang gives you the sea and fresh air, and the outskirts offer more options with a pool and garden.
Meal plans in Hoi An are usually breakfast only: the town is full of cafés and restaurants, so hotels rarely offer all inclusive. If you want a full-board beach stay, compare resorts in An Bang or Da Nang.
Food and travel budget
In Hoi An try cao lầu, white rose dumplings and local banh mi — dishes tied to this town. The market and riverside dinners are popular too, with fish and seafood cooked to order.
Budget depends on the hotel and the season. Plan separately for tailoring, excursions, massage and transfers; workshop prices depend on fabric and deadlines. We fix the final amount before payment.
What to see and who Hoi An suits
Beyond the old town and the Japanese Bridge, take a trip to My Son with its Cham temple ruins, to the Cam Thanh coconut village and to An Bang. The riverside and the night market are good for evening walks.
Hoi An suits couples, food and architecture lovers, families with school-age children and anyone who wants the sea combined with a town. It is rarely chosen for active nightlife: evenings here are quiet.
