Where to go in February: warm sea, romance and a shorter flight

In February Egypt, the UAE and Hainan already feel like spring: sunny and mild by day, cool in the evening. In Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and the Maldives the dry season continues, so the sea stays calm and underwater visibility is good.

The main advantage of the month is less queueing and bustle than January: the New Year peak is over and spring holidays have not started. It is a convenient time for a trip for two, for a first taste of Asia and for a family holiday before March.

February is one of the best months for Egypt: daytime air around +22…+25 °C, sun almost every day, moderate wind. The Red Sea is still cool at about +21…+22 °C, so choose a hotel with a heated pool and plan swimming for the calm hours.

February is high season, and 14 February adds demand for short romantic breaks. That week, hotels with dinners, spa programmes and late checkout cost more and the choice narrows. With flexible dates, shifting by five to ten days brings calmer prices and more free rooms.
