Istanbul Tours from Kazakhstan
Istanbul joins Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus, with a historic peninsula at its heart. One trip can cover Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, the courtyards of Topkapı, the Grand Bazaar and a fish dinner by the water.
TripTech matches the hotel to the district and arrival airport, checks flights from Almaty or Astana, the transfer and the full package. For a first visit we suggest a 4–7 day route without unnecessary moves and flag which tickets are worth booking ahead.
- Istanbul suits a first trip to Türkiye, a long city break, shopping, food and sightseeing; beach time is secondary.
- Direct flights from Almaty and Astana arrive at IST or SAW, two airports on opposite sides of the city, so match the hotel to the arrival point.
- April–June and September–November are the most comfortable months; July and August are hot and busy. The budget depends on dates, district, hotel and season.
Why Istanbul is more than a sightseeing stop
Few cities pack a historic core, modern neighbourhoods, ferries and a serious food scene into one trip. You can queue for Hagia Sophia in the morning, walk Beyoğlu in the afternoon and watch the Bosphorus from Ortaköy in the evening.
The city is not only museums: Beşiktaş and Kadıköy have markets and cafés, the Princes' Islands offer bicycles and quiet streets, and the beaches at Florya and Şile make a day by the water. That range suits couples, families with school-age children and travellers who want city and sea in one trip.
Istanbul districts: where to stay and what to see
Sultanahmet is the first-trip choice: Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapı are within walking distance, and the T1 tram links the area with the Grand Bazaar and Eminönü. Beyoğlu is better for restaurants, galleries and İstiklal Avenue, with more noise and nightlife.
Beşiktaş is convenient for the Bosphorus, Ortaköy and ferries, while Kadıköy covers the Asian side, its market and cafés. Central beaches are not resort beaches: for sand and swimming, most people go to the Princes' Islands or Şile, or use the hotel pool on hot days.
When to go: weather and season
April–June and September–November are the best months: comfortable walking weather and shorter queues. July and August bring heat and crowds, so schedule viewpoints and tours for the morning.
Winters are cool and wet, with occasional snow; from December to February pack a warm jacket and an umbrella. Easter, May holidays, Ramadan and school breaks change prices and hotel occupancy, so check the calendar before fixing dates.
Flights from Kazakhstan and IST or SAW transfers
Flights from Almaty and Astana land at IST on the European side or SAW (Sabiha Gökçen) on the Asian side. Flying time is around 6–7 hours; schedules and baggage depend on the season and carrier.
IST is far from Sultanahmet, SAW is far from Beyoğlu and Beşiktaş; the drive takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on traffic. Compare taxi, private transfer and metro: M11 runs from IST, and M4 connects SAW with Kadıköy.
Hotels, breakfast and the trip budget
All-inclusive is rare in Istanbul: city hotels usually offer breakfast, and dinner is better planned in town. Sultanahmet boutiques are compact, Beyoğlu has design and club-style hotels, and Beşiktaş offers Bosphorus views.
The budget depends on dates, district and hotel category; count museums, transport, food and transfers separately. A museum pass or transport card can pay off over several days, but check what is included and the current price before buying.
Istanbul with children and for couples
With children, Sultanahmet and Kadıköy are easy: short walks, ferries and parks nearby. The aquarium in Florya, Miniatürk and the Rahmi M. Koç Museum work well, and a beach or pool gives everyone a break on hot days.
Couples tend to choose Beyoğlu and Beşiktaş: dinner with a Bosphorus view, a hammam and a ferry to the Princes' Islands. For quiet nights, avoid staying right on İstiklal Avenue, where nightlife runs until morning.
Practical tips before you travel
Dress modestly in mosques: cover shoulders and knees, carry a scarf for women and remove shoes at the entrance. Bargain in the Grand Bazaar, but cards are not accepted everywhere, so keep some cash.
Use Istanbulkart on trams, the metro and ferries, and avoid unlicensed taxis. The Grand Bazaar is usually closed on Sundays, and museum hours can change around public holidays, so check before you go.

Questions and answers
Do citizens of Kazakhstan need a visa for Türkiye?
Tourism is visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Check passport validity and the current entry rules before departure.
Which airport should I choose, IST or SAW?
IST is easier for Sultanahmet and the European side; SAW for Kadıköy and the Asian side. Match the hotel and allow for traffic, which can add an hour.
How many days do I need in Istanbul?
Four to five days cover the historic core, the Bosphorus and one neighbourhood. Six or seven leave room for the Princes' Islands or Şile.
Can you swim in Istanbul?
Central beaches are limited; people swim on the Princes' Islands, at Florya or in Şile. On hot days many use the hotel pool and save the sea for the Anatolian coast.
When is Istanbul good with children?
April–June and September–November bring mild weather and shorter queues. In July–August, plan walks for the morning and carry water.
How much does an Istanbul trip cost?
It depends on dates, hotel, district and excursions. The manager checks the flight and accommodation against current offers before payment.
